Albania and Kosovo to Turn ESG into Business Value at Regional Conference in Tirana
The Albanian ESG Network, AmCham Albania and AmCham Kosovo, Ministry of Environment and Business Magazine bring together business, government, financial institutions and international partners on 6 October 2026 to make ESG a driver of competitiveness, market access and EU integration.
TIRANA – The Albanian ESG Network, a member of CSR Europe, in close partnership with AmCham Albania and AmCham Kosovo and with the support of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Albania and Media Partner Business Magazine, will hold the conference “Turn ESG into Business Value: From Commitment to Competitive Advantage” on 6 October 2026, from 09:00 to 15:00, at the Tirana Marriott Hotel – Amantia.
As Albania and Kosovo advance on their EU integration paths, sustainability and ESG (environmental, social and governance) practices are becoming core conditions for competitiveness, access to markets, financing and long-term resilience. EU policy, supply-chain requirements, financial institutions and international partners increasingly expect companies to demonstrate credible ESG practices. This affects export-oriented companies, SMEs integrated in EU value chains, and companies seeking access to climate and sustainability finance.
What to expect
The programme is built around three questions:
- Part I – ESG & Competitiveness: From Regulation to Market Advantage. How European expectations, investors, customers and supply chains are changing the competitive environment for Albanian companies, and what businesses should be doing now to avoid falling behind.
- Part II – From Strategy to Practice: Making ESG Usable. The practical ESG Guideline developed with the Albanian ESG Network will be tested against real business conditions: is it usable and proportionate, does it work for both large companies and SMEs, and does it generate information that banks and investors can use?
- Part III – Ecosystem & Partnerships: From Individual Efforts to Collective Impact. ESG cannot be scaled by businesses alone. It requires cooperation between government, business, financial institutions, chambers, international partners and neighbours in the region, and Albania and Kosovo have an opportunity to turn ESG into a platform for shared competitive advantage.
The day will close with a “From Dialogue to Action” session, in which participants commit to a concrete action, followed by a B2B meeting and engagement session.
Speakers and participants include Mr. Sofjan Jaupaj, Minister of Environment; Mr. Enkelejd Musabelliu, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation; Ms. Ingrid Macdonald, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Albania; H.E. Mr. Niklas Ström, Ambassador of Sweden; Dr. Natasha Ahmetaj, Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania; Mr. Boris Janjalia, International Finance Corporation (IFC); Mr. Morris Massarutto, CSR Europe; and representatives of leading companies, financial institutions, AmCham Albania and AmCham Kosovo.
Expected outcomes
By the end of the day, the organisers aim to have:
- Agreement on up to three flagship joint initiatives, to be implemented in 2027–2029
- The ESG Guideline examined for real-world usability
